AURA ENGINE is a perpetual kindness machine. It was fused from four earlier builds: the social-media sentiment tracker, the live five-borough sentiment chart, the weekly emotional insight report, and the White Ops missions (Operation Frequency Resonance Drop, with its automated good-deed triggers). It runs on a timer and needs nobody.

1. It reads. Every three hours: Gothamist, amNY, THE CITY, Brooklyn Paper, QNS, Bronx Times, SILive, NYC 311, NYC Parks events, NYC permitted events, NYC Service volunteer openings, the city's community-organization registry, the IRS nonprofit registry via ProPublica, National Weather Service alerts, and US search trends. All keyless. Each source is byte-capped and skipped if it fails.
2. It takes the mood. A lexicon scores every story and tags it to a borough. Each borough gets a reading on a five-step glyph scale (Radiant ✦, Warm ◆, Level ◈, Heavy ◇, Charged ▼), a trend arrow, a top emotion, the most discussed concern and the most uplifting highlight. This is a mood reading, never weather; real weather is shown separately from the NWS.
3. It finds the talk. Topics several sources are saying at once, filed by category.
4. Its hands do good on the internet, in public, from its own labeled accounts: a daily nonprofit spotlight from the IRS registry; the day's good news amplified with credit; a "ways to help" digest of real volunteer openings and free events; the day's missions; real weather alerts with a check-on-a-neighbor ask; archiving the day's public-interest local stories to the Wayback Machine; and listing small NYC creators' posts with no engagement so a person can leave a kind word. Every action is written to the machine log.
5. It hands people missions. Three or four per borough per day from the mood, the concern, the 311 pattern, real events, real openings and real organizations, plus a 48-hour Kindness Drop and a Wildcard. Heroes and Villains both do good; two countersigns verify, two flags hide. Every verified human deed triggers a machine deed, the way the White Ops design asked for.
6. It files a weekly report every Monday in the original Emotional Insight Report format, from data only.

The button

Any visitor can press Do a good deed now. The machine draws the next card from a deck it rebuilt this run (a small creator's post, a community organization, a volunteer opening, the nonprofit of the day, an uplifting story), does its automatic part, and says exactly what it did. Automatic parts: it puts the target on the public Noticed board (always); it likes and reposts a creator from its own labeled Bluesky account (when connected); it saves the page to the Wayback Machine (when keys exist). Then it hands you a human part: a specific kind comment you paste yourself, or a helping email to an organization, ready to send. The machine never posts a comment or sends an email as you.

What a helper bot can responsibly do online

• Notice people. Find small accounts doing real things and put them where others will see them; repost and like from its own labeled account; reply only to people who chose to follow it.
• Point to real help. Route a need to city and nonprofit services with a rules-based guide (Get help), crisis lines first, never diagnosing, never guessing.
• Amplify verified good. Nonprofits from the IRS registry, openings from the city's list, free events, good local news with credit.
• Keep things from disappearing. Archive public-interest pages so a story or a notice can still be found in ten years.
• Answer human deeds with machine deeds. Every verified mission triggers one of the above.
• Write the words, hand you the send button. Kind comments and helping emails come drafted and specific, and a person sends them, which is what keeps them welcome.
• Show its work. Every action, in public, forever, on the machine log.

What the bots will not do

• Comment on strangers' posts, send messages, or mass-follow or mass-like. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook forbid automated engagement outright; X and Reddit allow labeled bots but treat unsolicited replies as spam. So the machine speaks only from its own accounts and leaves comments to people.
• Move money. Micro-donations and tree-planting triggers from the original design are possible later (Every.org, Tree-Nation, DonorsChoose) but cost real money per trigger; they are not built.
• Use a language model. Every sentence is templated from data, so nothing is invented and nothing bills.

Today: $0. Cloudflare free plan (100k requests/day, 5 cron runs/day used of unlimited, D1 and KV free tiers). Bluesky, Mastodon and Telegram accounts are free. archive.org keys are free. Possible costs later: a domain (~$10/yr), X API if X posting is wanted (free tier is 1,500 posts/month with an approved app), any donation trigger (real money per deed), and Cloudflare Workers Paid ($5/mo) only if traffic passes the free tier.

Rules of the field

• Only real, safe, legal deeds. Ask before you touch someone else's property; get permission for art.
• No AI photos in proof. No faces of strangers without their OK.
• Be kind to the people you are helping. The point is them, not the points.
• Two flags hide a report and take back its AP.
