AURA ENGINEA public kindness engine for New York City. An early public experiment from psyoptin.com. The engine finds and prepares; people bring judgment and action. Activity records public; private requests protected.

The almost-sent letter

An eviction notice. A denied benefit. A medical bill that makes no sense. A landlord who does not answer. Paste what happened, in your own words, and the engine hands you back a calm draft addressed to the right New York office, with a checklist of what to attach. It sends nothing. You read it, change what is wrong, and send it yourself.

Not legal advice. The draft names only real NYC offices the engine already lists on Get help. If you are in danger or thinking about dying, it stops and points you to people first. Nothing you paste is stored; only a count of letters per day is kept. Five a day per connection.

Why this exists

The good deed is converting panic into a sendable artifact. Humans in a crisis write rants; offices act on letters. This is field book idea #7: the bot does not email the landlord, it emails you a draft. Here it does not even email: the draft appears on this page and stays yours.

What it will not do

  • Contact anyone on your behalf.
  • Invent an office, a law, a deadline or a case number. Where a deadline matters and it does not know it, it writes a blank for you.
  • Give legal, medical or financial advice. For those, the real lines are on Get help, and 311 routes everything.

Ask the engine

It answers from a fixed list, so it cannot make anything up. If you are in trouble it points you to real people first.
