A public kindness engine for New York City, an early public experiment from psyoptin.com. The engine finds and prepares; people bring judgment and action.

The vibe weather, as data

Every three hours the engine reads how each borough of New York City feels, from public counts only: local news tone, public posts counted by mood (counts, never the posts), 311 requests, traffic speeds and Citi Bike use. Nothing about any person is in it. The method and the pre-registered test are on the studies shelf.

Free, for everyone

History, reconstructed, free

The live readings began October 1, 2026. Two inputs are public records that go back years, so they are rebuilt here from 2020, per day, and kept apart from the live archive: 311 requests and noise complaints per borough (NYC Open Data), and MTA ridership by mode (data.ny.gov). List of series · example: 311 per borough, CSV. Labeled as reconstructed in every file.

Data dictionary

Daily vibe file (/api/vibes/history.csv): one row per borough per day. day (New York date) · borough (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, or city) · score (the day's mean vibe index, -1 to 1; negative is heavier, positive lighter) · low, high (the day's lowest and highest run) · runs (readings that day, normally 8) · items (local stories read) · people_score (mean mood of public posts counted, -1 to 1) · people_n (posts counted) · s311_total (311 requests in the last 24 hours).

Every-reading file (?every=run, key): one row per borough per run. Adds ts (unix ms), trend (change since the last run), emotion and reading (the index put into words), n (stories), surge (1 when the borough is unusually busy). Never revised after it is written.

Signals file (/api/signals/history.csv): one row per key per day, value with low, high and runs. Keys, per borough: 311.total24, 311.pressure, 311.nonnoise, posts.n, posts.score, posts.strong, news.n, news.score, surge, street.speed (NYC DOT, mph); city-wide: bikes.out.city (Citi Bike bikes out), city.shift, counts.help, counts.cards, trends.n. The MTA daily ridership series (data.ny.gov) is archived beside them for the pre-registered test.

License: the free files are open for any use with a credit line ("AURA ENGINE vibe weather, good.psyoptin.com"). The key's files are for the key holder's own use and products; no resale of the raw files. Provenance: every row is written by the engine at the time of the run from public sources only, never edited later; the method is on /studies; no personal data is in any file.

The key arrives by email the minute Stripe confirms. It renews monthly at the same price until you cancel; cancel by replying to that email or writing to hello@psyoptin.com, nothing charged again. 18+. Informational data, not advice; the series began October 1, 2026 and is young.

Ask the engine

It answers from a fixed list first; anything else goes to a language model that reads only the engine's public record and can neither act nor send. If you are in trouble it points you to real people first.
